Prime Minister thanked to TAK for the conversion of the non-woven mass production system for mask filters

News

Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun thanked the Toray Advanced Materials Korea Inc., for its efforts to quickly increase the number of masks by changing the production system at a meeting of the Central Disaster Prevention and Countermeasures Headquarters for COVID-19 Infectious Diseases held at the Government Complex in Seoul on 30th.

After consulting with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Toray Advanced Materials Korea., converted its existing production line of materials for diapers into a filter production line for KF-80-class masks from July 31. It will produce a 13-ton mask filter-based non-woven fabric with 6.5 million masks a day, due to a schedule more than a month ahead of the original schedule.

On the other hand, the general health mask produces and joins the sponge-bonded non-woven fabric used in the outer and inner skin separately, but our company's facilities are carried out as an independent innovation process that combines the two non-woven fabrics in one line and makes them at once. Through this process, production speed is almost five times faster than facilities that produce only Melt Blown, which is expected to contribute greatly to resolving the shortage of masks.
