New dawn in the history of the Korean chemical fiber industry

In July 1972, Cheil Industries and Toray established joint venture, Cheil Synthetics to cope with the rapidly growing chemical fiber industry. In 1974, it began Polyester Staple Fiber (PSF) business through technical cooperation with Toray and set up integrated production system for chemical fiber, fabric and dyeing process. With high quality products, Cheil Synthetics took over the Korean market, expanded exports and thereby became the leader in the Korean chemical fiber industry.

In 1985, it added new film facilities to broaden horizon beyond fiber business and expand business. It especially opened R&D Center in its early years and actively invested in research and development to build a solid foundation for further growth.
