Chairman Lee Young-Kwan was selected as the winner of the 2023 Proud Gumi People Award.

Chairman Lee joined Samsung Group's Cheil Synthetic Fiber Gumi Plant in 1973 and has been at the forefront of regional economic development, job creation, and mutual growth with the local community by discovering and fostering high-tech materials businesses for the past 50 years.

In addition, he contributed to the health and safety of the people by quickly rebuilding the facilities during COVID-19 and stabilizing the supply and demand of masks and was recognized for active social contribution activities, such as establishing the Korea Toray Science Foundation contributing to the development of science in Korea.

The proud Gumi People Award is selected from candidates who have devoted themselves to regional development and is decided through collecting public opinion and an awards review committee of 20 people.

The Proud Gumi People Awards Ceremony, which selected a total of 205 people last year, is scheduled to be held at Gumi City Hall on December 13th.
