Kang Moon-sung, a professor of chemical and biological engineering at Sogang University, was selected as the winner at the 2024 Fall Toray Mid-career Academic Awards, which will be conducted for the development of polymer science in Korea.

The award ceremony was held at the Korean Polymer Association Fall Conference held at the Busan Convention Center on October 1, and was presented by Jeong Don-ho, head of the Management Planning Headquarters of Toray Advanced Materials Korea(TAK).

Professor Kang was recognized for his achievements in publishing world-class research results by analyzing the electrical characteristics of polymer semiconductors and ionic polymers, conducting research on optoelectronic devices and patterning processes.

Professor Kang expressed his acceptance speech, saying, "We will constantly challenge the development of the polymer science field and contribute to the development of the field by conducting innovative research."

Meanwhile, TAK has established the Toray Mid-career Academic Award and the Toray Chemical Engineering Award in cooperation with the Polymer Society and the Chemical Engineering Society for the development of polymer studies and chemical engineering in Korea, annually awarding prizes to scholars who have achieved outstanding research achievements in related fields.

In addition, TAK is continuously sponsoring related academic societies for the development of science in Korea.
