Professor Moon Il of the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Chonnam National University has been selected as the 5th recipient of the Toray Chemical Engineering Award, established by Toray Advanced Materials Korea (TAK).

Award ceremony was held on April 24 at EXCO in Daegu during the Spring General Meeting and Academic Conference of the Korean Institute of Chemical Engineers.

Professor Moon was honored with the award in recognition of his outstanding contributions, including:

◆ Serving as the inaugural Secretary General of the Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea (ABEEK), contributing to the improvement of chemical engineering curriculum

◆ Promoting the globalization of engineering education and advancing industry development through his experience in both academia and the private sector

◆ Publishing over 180 papers in SCI-indexed journals, achieving an h-index of 40, and holding 41 patents

Upon receiving the award, Professor Moon said “I am honored to have my research achievements recognized. I will continue to devote myself to producing meaningful outcomes in this field.”

Established in 2021, the Toray Chemical Engineering Award aims to recognize individuals who have significantly contributed to the advancement of chemical engineering in Korea.

Each year, outstanding researchers are selected through the Korean Institute of Chemical Engineers, and recipients are awarded a plaque and a monetary prize of KRW 10 million.
