Jang Yeon-Cheol of TAK wins the Ministerial Commendation

Jang Yeon-Cheol, the Process Technology Manager at Toray Advanced Materials Korea (TAK), was honored with the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Commendation at the Government Awards Ceremony for Eco-Industrial Development. The award recognizes his contributions to promoting resource circulation and advancing carbon neutrality.Manager Jang led the development of an innovative technology that reprocesses waste generated from the PPS production line into recycled resin. This advancement enabled a shift from a landfill-dependent disposal model to a circular production system. The technology builds upon the filter press process introduced in 2019 and has delivered meaningful reductions in both manufacturing costs and environmental impact.“Realizing environmental value has been all the more meaningful thanks to my colleagues,” said Manager Jang. “I will continue to enhance eco-friendly process technologies and practice ESG-driven management.”Hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the ceremony aims to promote a sustainable industrial ecosystem by recognizing individuals and organizations contributing to resource circulation and carbon neutrality.

TAK collaborates with Korea University to foster Future Talent in Chemical Engineering

Toray Advanced Materials Korea (TAK) hosted a tour of its R&D Center and a team project presentation session for undergraduate students from the Department of Chemical Engineering at Korea University, as part of the university’s Knowledge Management course.The course was jointly conducted with TAK, where the company’s R&D team leaders delivered lectures throughout the semester. The lectures introduced TAK’s core technologies and business areas, including polymer engineering, battery materials, water treatment, and carbon fiber, helping students better understand the company’s technological capabilities and market competitiveness.As part of the final presentation, student teams selected one of TAK’s business areas and proposed new product ideas along with analyses of future industry trends. The presentations were evaluated by a panel including two Korea University professors and Lee Namhee, the Head of TAK’s R&D Center, who selected the winning teams.Following the presentation session, students toured TAK’s R&D facilities, gaining firsthand exposure to the company’s research environment and technological strengths.

TAK showcases Global Competitiveness of Materials at CWIEME Berlin 2025

Arawin Division of Toray Advanced Materials Korea (TAK) participated in CWIEME Berlin 2025, held in Berlin, Germany, where it showcased the global competitiveness of its advanced aramid materials from June 3 to 5.CWIEME Berlin 2025 is a globally recognized exhibition in the coil winding, insulation, and electric manufacturing sectors, drawing over 750 companies from 80 countries. At the exhibition, the Arawin Division attracted attention by presenting its high-performance aramid fibers used in insulation materials, interior components for aircraft and high-speed trains (in honeycomb structure), and heat-resistant protective clothing.Meanwhile, Arawin division plans to maximize customer convenience and expand synergy within the Toray Group by providing total solutions for laminating along with the launch of Arawin Paper based on its technology for manufacturing meta-aramid, a high-heat-resistant super fiber, through a dry process.

TAK and Haier Sign MOU to expand Membrane Technology Collaboration

Toray Advanced Materials Korea (TAK, President Kim Young-seop) has signed a MOU with China’s Haier to strengthen technological collaboration and enhance the global competitiveness of its water treatment business.The signing ceremony was held at the InterContinental Hotel in Shanghai, China. Under this agreement, TAK’s advanced reverse osmosis (RO) membrane filters will be installed in Haier’s water purifiers. This collaboration is expected to accelerate their efforts to expand sales in the rapidly growing Chinese market.In addition, they will jointly develop water purifier filters using TAK's flat sheet membrane technology to improve product performance and achieve technological differentiation. This partnership aims to reinforce their strategic alliance over the mid- to long-term and build a sustainable technological cooperation framework.Through this MOU, Toray Advanced Materials Korea (TAK) also plans to elevate its technological capabilities and expand its market share in not only China but also the global water treatment market.Since developing Korea’s first reverse osmosis membrane in 1994, TAK has provided total water treatment solutions across a wide range of applications, including household water purifiers, drinking water, ultrapure water, wastewater reuse, industrial water, and seawater desalination. In particular, TAK’s self-developed ECO series—high-capacity, high-recovery RO filters for water purifiers—has been globally recognized for its superior energy efficiency, durability, and filtration performance.Kang Chang-won, the head of the Filter Business Division at TAK stated, “Through the synergy created by the capabilities of both companies, TAK will further solidify its position in the global water treatment market.”Cu Chun-feng, the general manager of Haier’s Water Purification Business, added, “This collaboration will mark a turning point for the Chinese water purification industry, transitioning from quantitative growth to qualitative advancement.”
