TAK Signs MOU to establish Offshore Wind Blade Cluster

Toray Advanced Materials Korea (TAK) signed a MOU on November 19 to support the establishment of an offshore wind blade industrial cluster.

The signing ceremony was attended by representatives from Jeonbuk State, Gunsan City, wind blade manufacturers, materials companies, and research and evaluation institutions. TAK was represented by Kim Hak-Seon, the Director of the Carbon Fibers & Composite Materials Division, who signed the agreement on behalf of the company.

The MOU aims to strengthen the competitiveness of Korea’s offshore wind industry by jointly developing standardized and shared models for domestically produced blades, building production facilities and supply-chain infrastructure for testing, mass production, and commercialization, and creating a blade cluster connected to nearby port logistics.

As carbon fiber composites are essential core materials for offshore wind blades, TAK plans to contribute to the development of standardized and shared blade models, ensure stable supply of carbon fiber—the key material for blade manufacturing—and promote technical cooperation. Through this partnership with local governments, companies, and institutions, TAK will support the expansion of the domestic offshore wind power market.
