TAK acquires AS9120 certification for the aerospace industry quality management system

Toray Advanced Materials Korea (CEO and President Kim Young-seop) announced its acquisition of AS9120 certification for the aerospace industry quality management system established by the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG).AS9120 certification is an international standard quality management system that guarantees the quality of storage and distribution of aerospace parts.Toray Advanced Materials Korea (TAK) received certification after meeting stringent screening standards, systematizing product safety and risk management, and establishing a system that reflects relevant laws and customer requirements.With this certification, TAK will serve as a domestic supply base for aerospace composite materials for Toray Group, a leader in the global carbon fiber composite materials market, and will also solidify its foundation as a domestic production base by contributing to the development of the rapidly growing domestic aerospace industry.Toray Group holds a unique position in the global aircraft carbon fiber composite materials market, as the world's leading space program development organizations are also using Toray Group's carbon fiber composite materials for various purposes.TAK broke ground on its first carbon fiber plant in 2011, marking the era of mass production of carbon fiber for the first time in Korea, and expanded its supply chain by entering the prepreg business, an intermediate carbon fiber material, in 2021.In addition, in 2023, TAK expanded the 3rd carbon fiber plant, which integrates advanced technology, and continues to create newly added value in high-tech industries such as high-pressure pressure vessels, UAM, aerospace, and wind power generation.

Professor Lee Hyun-jung of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Kookmin University was selected as the winner of 2024 Toray Mid-career Academic Award, which is held for the development of Polymer Science in Korea.The award ceremony was held at the Spring Academic Conference of the Polymer Society at the Jeju Convention Center on April 4, and Lee Nam-hee, the director of the R&D Center attended and presented the award.Professor Lee was recognized for her achievements in publishing world-class research by conducting applied research related to energy devices, optoelectronic materials, and semiconductor devices based on the design and synthesis of organic-inorganic composite materials.Professor Lee expressed her intention to achieve meaningful results in the polymer science through research that will help to develop technologies in the future.Meanwhile, the Toray Mid-career Academic Award, which has been in effect since 2012, has been selected and awarded outstanding researchers in the field of polymer science and technology every year.

Informing Korea Toray Group's success factors at Gyeongbuk Provincial Office
